Art festivals

Whether you are into drama, comedy or visual art Southern Oxfordshire is bound to have something for you. Very often the venue is as enjoyable (and quirky) as the event. What more could you ask for?

  • Art in action at Waterperry Gardens - see artists and craftsmen at work and discuss their work and also take classes, buy art from or simply enjoy the exhibitions and performances of 400 artists, designer makers, teachers, musicians and performers. Discover painting, sculpture, glass, woodwork, textiles, ceramics, metalwork or jewellery making. Normally takes place in July. A MUST!
  • Henley FestivalOne of the biggest and best-loved arts festivals in the UK. Prepare yourself for fireworks, dance, street theatre, art, sculpture, roving eccentrica and more. Perfect if you enjoy late night parties. Normally takes place in July.

  • Henley FringeAn opportunity to see something a bit different: children’s shows, comedy, drama, Edinburgh preview, Greenwich theatre, Music, Musicals, New Writing, Shakespeare or Stand up. A must for theatre enthusiasts. Normally takes place in July.
  • Britwell’s Art and Artefacts ShowA community arts and crafts project which encourages local art work and artists. Children can attend activities such as painting, ceramics, photographs or pottery and more. Normally takes place in July.
  • Folly FestA quirky August event reflecting Faringdon’s long standing tradition of embracing eccentricity. There is live music, concerts, markets and children’s fancy dress parade but also welly throwing or wife carrying competitions! Normally takes place in August.
  • Drama Festival in Wallingford - welcome regional theatre groups for a week-long celebration of drama in the home town of Dame Agatha Christie. Normally in the Corn Exchange in June.
  • Henley Youth Festival - A celebration of the talents and achievements of local young people across a wide range of activities such as performing and visual arts and sports events. Normally runs in June.
