About Dunsden

The small village of Dunsden is one of a group of villages/hamlets that make up the South Oxfordshire Parish of Eye & Dunsden.

Celebrated war poet Wilfred Owen was lay assistant to the vicar at Dunsden Church for two years as a young man, before leaving to go and teach in France. With the outbreak of WW1 he volunteered to join the British Army and was commissioned into the Manchester Regiment. He lost his life in Ors, northern France on 4 November, one week before the Armistice.

Dunsden is also the home of the award winning Loddon Brewery, which was established in 2002.
