Brook Barn Country House - Wantage

Food at Brook Barn is incredibly important and we try very hard to source all our meat and vegetables from local producers. Fish is a little more tricky but we have a wonderful Fishmonger in our local Wednesday market. We keep our own chickens so you can be sure that your breakfast eggs will be as fresh as possible. We are in the process of converting our paddock into a vegetable garden. By next summer we hope all our vegetables will be home grown. whenever possible our meat comes from local farms some of which are certified organic. We pride ourselves on our breakfasts; picnics are delicious; afternoon tea is mouth-watering and our dinner menus are delectable. In the summer (weather permitting) we can serve you on one of the terraces. Evening meals are available every day except Monday all year round.

The Birdcage Inn - Thame

The Birdcage is the oldest inn in Thame. Built around 1300 it has fortunately retained its structural character and many of the elm beams, once covered in ancient plaster, have been exposed creating the historical atmosphere inside and out. During the Napoleonic wars, the Bird Cage housed French prisoners who incidentally founded the local Masons. In fact, for many years it was used as a holding house for petty thieves and criminals, even lepers on the upper floors! Of course stories handed down from generation to generation have only enhanced its eerie reputation of being haunted by some of these troubled souls!

Freshly ground for each cup it is a reasonably strong but not bitter coffee, and we have programmed our machine to give us a reasonable strength café latte and a stronger shorter cappuccino. We also offer expresso and macchiato. Delicious food from the deli counter which can be made up to eat in.
