Midsomer Murders

Thankfully, Midsomer Murders and Inspector Barnaby are fictional, but the villages and market towns seen in each episode are not. Location teams spend hours finding period properties in locations that are full of character and charm, the real stars of the show. And where better than the picturesque villages of southern Oxfordshire, where the majority of the show is filmed.
If you are looking to explore Midsomer then you've come to the right place - download our Midsomer Driving Trail below for a tour of filming locations. South Oxfordshire and Midsomer countryside are easily accessible from the M4 and M40, and if you're not travelling by car, Rail and bus routes to the area lead to many walking and cycle paths.
  • The Midsomer Driving Trail takes in the locations used in the series. From town centres to manor houses, village pubs, museums, gardens, nature reserves and steam railways, this guide will take you on a tour of the real Midsomer!
An overnight stay is recommended so you can stop, eat and enjoy the routes at your leisure. Check out our accommodation page for more information - you could even stay in a Midsomer location.

You may even get lucky and stumble upon filming during your tour!
